For the last two weeks my Infiniti Q70 has been shaking through the steering wheel and seat whenever I stop at a traffic light with the gear in drive, and it goes away when I shift to neutral. Yesterday I also felt a heavy thud from the front when I moved from reverse to drive in my driveway in Khalifa City. The car has about a hundred and thirty thousand kilometres, and it sits in the sun all day, which I think makes rubber parts age faster. My brother says it is probably just the engine idling rough and I should change the spark plugs. A friend says it sounds like a worn mount, and that if I leave it, the engine can move around and damage other parts. I looked around and found a page about Genuine engine mount replacement for Infiniti in Khalifa City, but it did not tell me how to know which mount is the problem. So I want to ask people who have been through it. How does a shop check a mount, do they look for cracked rubber or leaking fluid, or have someone shift gears while they watch the engine move? Is there a simple test I can do at home? Do they usually change all the mounts together, or just the one that is broken? Is it safe to drive for a few weeks until I get the money? Also, how long does the job take, and what should it cost on an Infiniti? If your car had the same shake, please tell me what the cause was, what you paid, and what you would do differently. Easy answers help me most.
