Silksong in 2026: How I Use Mods to Tame Team Cherry’s Brutal Masterpiece

Silksong mods with BepInEx make Hollow Knight: Silksong more accessible, easing its brutal difficulty.

As a longtime Hollow Knight fan who has spent a lot of 2026 replaying Hollow Knight: Silksong, I can say this: Team Cherry’s sequel is brilliant, but it is also brutally hard. Is it harder than the original? I think so, at least in its opening hours. The game’s wider exposure has brought in players who may not be deeply familiar with Metroidvanias or Soulslike punishment, and that can make Pharloom feel like a wall rather than a challenge. If you love the art, lore, and combat but wish Silksong had an easy mode, the mod scene is your best friend. I still recommend starting with vanilla, because the base game is masterful. But if you are thinking about dropping it, a few community mods can make the experience far more accessible without completely breaking it.

Most Silksong mods use BepInEx, and in 2026 the installation process is still pretty simple. Here is how I do it:

      • Download the BepInEx zipped file that matches your system.

      • Extract its files and add them to Silksong’s install folder. I placed BepInEx in the Content folder.

      • Start and exit the game. This creates the required BepInEx folders. You can also create the plugins folder manually inside BepInEx.

      • Download a mod and add its .dll file to the plugins folder.

      • Load the game, and the mod should work.

Some mods may have unique instructions, so I always read their descriptions first. That said, the BepInEx method covers most of what I have tried.

Stakes of Marika - Rebirth Anywhere

      Creator: Kassant

Silksong uses the Soulslike formula of benches as respawn points. Benches are not extremely rare, but most maps have only about two, so a defeat can send you through multiple screens. Some benches also need Rosaries to unlock, and Rosaries are scarce in Act 1. The result is a frustrating death-runback-death loop. Stakes of Marika - Rebirth Anywhere changes that by respawning you from the current screen rather than a bench. You revive at the most recent entry point, almost where you died. Press F8 to return to the last bench, and you can even create a custom respawn point.

      No Double Damage

      Creator: Baiker

Silksong loves double damage. Many bosses and mobs have attacks that remove two of Hornet’s masks, and some environmental hazards do the same. Since you start with five masks and expanding that limit takes serious work, Hornet can feel fragile. No Double Damage makes attacks take only one mask. Does that make the game too easy? Not really. You still need to master mechanics and avoid combos, because multiple hits still add up. The mod just stops every mistake from being catastrophic.

      Increase Player Damage

      Creator: stebars

Even early mobs can take 4–6 hits, which makes Hornet feel weak and reflects Silksong’s origin as a Hollow Knight DLC. Increase Player Damage boosts your damage by two, so fodder enemies go down in 2–3 hits. Flying enemies that flee after every hit become much less annoying, and bosses also fall faster because the mod affects all opponents.

      Double Rosaries

      Creator: BlueRaja

Act 1 is stingy with Rosaries. Silk is plentiful—you will hit the 400 limit without much trouble—but Rosaries are rare. Bone Bottom’s Pebb sells a Simple Key for 500 Rosaries, Shakra sells maps, and the Forge Daughter in Deep Docks has useful Tools. Double Rosaries doubles enemy drops, and you can raise the multiplier to three, four, or more. For me, this mostly removes the need to grind in the first few hours.

      AutoMap

      Creator: WheresWolfgang

Shakra sells maps, but Silksong only updates them when you rest on a bench. Narratively that makes sense, but practically it makes exploration less smooth. AutoMap updates the map immediately as you explore. It is the least game-altering mod on this list, but it is a quality-of-life change that makes a real difference.

      Shadow Dash

      Creator: Null_993

Hornet becomes far more mobile after learning Swift Step, but Swift Step has no invincibility frames. That means you cannot dash through enemies or attacks without taking damage, and touching a downed boss hurts. Shadow Dash adds invincibility to Swift Step, basically giving Hornet a Dark Souls-style roll. This has a huge impact on gameplay and makes Silksong more forgiving when your timing is slightly off.

      My Final Take in 2026

      Mod
      Creator
      Main Effect

Stakes of Marika - Rebirth Anywhere
      Kassant
Respawn near death; F8 returns to bench

      No Double Damage
      Baiker
Attacks deal one mask instead of two

      Increase Player Damage
      stebars
+2 damage; faster mob and boss kills

      Double Rosaries
      BlueRaja
      Double or higher Rosary drops

      AutoMap
      WheresWolfgang
      Map updates immediately

      Shadow Dash
      Null_993
      Swift Step gains invincibility frames

Do mods ruin Silksong? I do not think so, as long as you are honest about what you want. If you want the pure Team Cherry challenge, stay vanilla. If the difficulty is pushing you away, pick one or two mods—maybe No Double Damage and AutoMap—and see how you feel. In 2026, the mod scene is mature enough that there is no shame in using it. Silksong is still a masterpiece, and I would rather see more players finish it than bounce off its first few hours. 🕷️

There is one catch with all of this: mods are free, but Silksong itself is not, and picking it up at full price right when you are still unsure whether the difficulty is for you can feel like a gamble. The mods above work best as a safety net you already paid for, not as a reason to spend more than you wanted on the base game.

That is where something like DealNest is genuinely useful. It is a [steam sale tracker]( that keeps an eye on price drops across the store, so when Silksong or another punishing metroidvania you have been circling finally gets discounted, you hear about it without refreshing store pages every week. Grab the game cheap, install a couple of the mods above, and the first few hours stop being a wall.
